Generation Mamma

from Decalogy by G.A.S. DRUMMERS

lyrics

I wanna be ready
I wanna be strong
My generation, mama
Has a new place to belong

I got a new time
I got nothing to hide
I gotta get away

I am no citizen
I am a foreigner
Leaving no-man’s land.

I heard a thousand stories
About fame and money
But I don’t understand

What happened to that saint?
I’ve seen Judas hanging from the Joshua tree

I wanna be ready
I wanna be strong
My generation, mama
Has a new place to belong

I don’t remember which side I am on
I don’t really care about it; we don’t really care about it now.

I have a reason why
I need an alibi
And want you to hear

I’m coming back someday
Maybe it’s not too late
For me to disappear

Forget about redemption
There’s no straight direction
On this twisted road

I’ll send you letters and
I’ll write you songs and then
The wind will blow a sound.

I wanna be ready
I wanna be strong
My generation, mama
Has a new place to belong.
